What food, sleep and
habits do for skin

Products are one part of skin care. Food, sleep, stress and sun habits matter too, but the evidence behind each is very different. Some habits are backed by randomised trials. Others rest on small studies or a plausible idea that nobody has tested yet.

Every page here says which is which. We grade each claim as strong, some, early or general evidence, link the studies on PubMed, and say plainly when we found nothing. These pages are general information, not dietary or medical advice, and they work alongside a routine, never instead of sun protection or treatment.

How we grade the evidence

Strong evidence

Randomised trials, or pooled trials, that agree.

Some evidence

At least one randomised trial or pooled studies pointing the same way, with limits.

Early research

Small, short or observational studies, or reviews. A signal, not an answer.

General wellbeing

Good for you in general. We make no claim about skin.

Every study is linked to its abstract on PubMed. Where we found no good study, the page says so rather than guessing.

By skin concern

What food and habits can and cannot do for each thing Skinzy scores.

Food and nutrition

Dairy, sugar, gut health, water and the supplements that have been tested.

Sleep, stress and sun

The habits around the plate.

Myth checks

A straight answer to a question people search for, with the evidence behind it.
