What it checks
Each ingredient is looked up in the same database of 966 cosmetic ingredients that Skinzy's routine builder uses, plus 46 common label entries it doesn't cover (water, fragrance, pH adjusters, fragrance allergens). Actives are grouped by class (retinoids, AHAs, vitamin C and so on) and shown with the concerns they target and the usage rules our routine builder follows for that class, such as retinoids being PM-only.
Fragrance allergens are checked against the 26 substances the EU requires brands to name on a label. Regulation (EU) 2023/1545 extends the declarable list to more than 80 substances, phased in from 2026. Only the original 26 are checked here.
What it can't tell you
An ingredient list gives no concentrations, pH or formulation details, so the checker makes no claim about strength or whether a product will work for you. It also can't see your skin. For that, a free skin scan scores five zones of your face and matches ingredients to what it finds.
Anything we don't recognise is listed as "not in our database yet" instead of being guessed at.

Questions People Ask
How do I check what is in my skincare product?
Copy the ingredient list from the product's box, bottle or retailer page and paste it into the checker. It recognises each ingredient, shows which ones are actives and what they target, flags declared fragrance allergens, and lists anything it does not recognise instead of guessing.
Does the order of ingredients on a label mean anything?
Yes. Ingredients above 1% concentration are listed from most to least. Below 1% they can appear in any order, so an active near the end of a list may still be at an effective level. The checker does not guess concentrations.
Is this ingredient checker sponsored by a brand?
No. Skinzy sells no skincare and takes no sponsors. The checker judges ingredients, never brands, using the same ingredient database and conflict rules as Skinzy’s own routine builder.
Is the ingredient list I paste stored anywhere?
No. The check runs entirely in your browser: nothing you paste is sent to a server or saved. A share link carries the list in the part of the URL after the # sign, which browsers never send to a server.
