Ferulic Acid
Ferulic acid is an antioxidant that's rarely used alone — its main job is stabilizing vitamin C and boosting its antioxidant effect, which is why the two are almost always sold together. Used in the morning under sunscreen, it adds a real layer of protection against the free-radical damage UV exposure causes.
How it works
A phenolic plant-derived antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals directly and, when combined with vitamin C and E, doubles their photoprotective stability and efficacy. It also reduces UV-induced thymine dimer formation, indirectly limiting inflammation-driven pigment production.
In practice, that's why it's rarely sold as a standalone product — it's a booster ingredient, meant to be layered with the vitamin C it's stabilizing.
